BOOK LAUNCH - COLONIAL ARTIST S.T. GILL

My book about colonial artist Samuel Thomas Gill was launched at the Book Cow bookshop in Canberra on Thursday evening. We had a great crowd of very interested and responsive people. I spoke about my research and writing and about how I had structured the book around Gill's life in South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales using his wonderful images as a way of telling the story about the colonies, important events and the growth that occurred during Gill's 40 plus year of creating hundreds of watercolours, pencil & ink sketches & lithographs.

Lots of those attending stayed for a glass of wine and chat about Gill and for book signing. Good to see so many books being sold including some of my earlier books, which the shop also had on display.

More information on S.T. Gill and my book (Colonial Artist S.T. Gill - A Window Into Nineteenth-Century Australia Through Colonial Art) can be found on my website (www.douglimbrick.com) including how to purchase the book from me, the publisher (Shawline Publishing group) and book shops.

A couple of photos taken at the launch.
