Artist S.T. Gill Book Now Available

My book about colonial artist Samuel Thomas Gill has been released by the publisher. Copies can be obtained from the publisher Shawline Publishing Group (orders@shawlinepublishing.com.au), myself (www.douglimbrick.com) or bookstores.

S.T. Gill was probably Australia's most prolific artist creating an estimated 10,000 images, including many wonderful watercolours. My book is a combination of a biography of Gill and a history of the colonies using Gill's wonderful images as a window into the colonies in the nineteenth century. The history of the colonies come alive through Gill's images and enable the reader to trace the social history of ordinary Australians living out their lives in the colonies.

The book is being launched at 6 pm on 9 November at the Book Cow bookshop in Kingston, Canberra. I hope that Canberra readers can join me over glass of wine and participate in the launch.
